My Mission

My mission is to help you become the most empowered version of yourself.  I believe you are stronger than you think and my goal is to help you believe that too. My philosophy is grounded in the belief that when you step into my office, you are more than just a person presenting with a problem that needs to be “fixed”. I seek to explore and appreciate the “whole you”. This includes not only the biological, psychological, and spiritual factors but the social, cultural, and political influences that impact your past and current experiences.

What will therapy be like?

We will find strategies to help you change the relationship you have with your thoughts and mind.  I will support you as you confront your fears which will shine a light on your inner strength and power.  Despite the discomfort, you will see that you have the resilience and courage to confront challenges head-on, so they no longer rule your life.  Each time you face a fear is a testament to your ability to overcome challenges and grow as an individual.

You can do things even when they scare you and if you’re willing to try, I’ll be right there doing them with you.  I will challenge you to push yourself at times but will do this with compassion and will never push you beyond your limits or in a way that compromises your values. Ultimately, my goal is to help you learn to open up to life and all of the feelings that come with it (even the hard ones!), accept what is out of your control, and learn to ride the waves instead of fighting against them.

Training & Education

I have a range of experience from working in child welfare to medical and mental health settings. I have provided support to children with neurological disorders and their families, supporting them through the challenges of coping with chronic illness. I specialized in working with children and teens with epilepsy and adolescents navigating life with muscular dystrophy as they transitioned into adulthood. When working with adults, I have treated a diverse range of mental health issues including anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, grief and loss, relationship issues, ADHD, psychosis, and LGBTQIA2S+ issues. I was a therapist on the OCD Specialty team at UT Southwestern where I provided Exposure and Response Prevention to adults with OCD.

I have specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention through the Behavior Therapy Training Institute and am a member of the International OCD Foundation and the Association for Contextual and Behavioral Sciences. I also have specialized training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy for individuals.
